G’day and welcome to our site!

Our life’s adventures have taken us from remote Cattle Stations in WA to the Tip of Cape York and anywhere in between. We both share a passion for the great outdoors, nature, wildlife, camping, fishing and exploring new places. Australia’s wide and varied landscape and all it has to offer is something that never get’s old, being able to pull up and make camp, boil the billy and explore the back roads of Australia is a luxury afforded to us all if we are interested and motivated enough to get out there and go exploring.

Based in North Queensland we are now working towards full-time retirement after 10 years being self-employed and working long hours. In 2020 we decided it was time to wind up our business and spend more time doing what we love, not wanting to be the gonna doe’rs we committed to spending as much time as possible planning trips and exploring new places. The 79 Series – which we affectionately call ‘Ruby’ was purchased in 2016, and over the last 15 years our camping accommodation had grown from a 60 second tent to a camper trailer.

There is nothing like a pandemic and enforced lock-down period to give any committed camper time to think about an upgrade and we were no different. The Camper Trailer had done its job well for 7 years, but like everyone we were starting to look for a little more comfort and convenience. We wanted a comfortable bed, en suite, outside kitchen, off-road capability and something that was easy to put up and down. The day we saw the C3e we knew we had found what we wanted so we purchased ‘Billy’ in August 2020.

Over the years we have had many adventures, and a few mis-adventures while travelling around Australia. Busy with life and work, many of the photos, as well as the details of certain places we have visited had become mixed up memories, Billy Tea and the Back-roads is our way of documenting our memories and sharing what we do.

We look forward to meeting you for a Billy Tea on a Back road somewhere!
